Printing at WMed using a personal device (MacOS, Windows, iOS, Android)
Summary
WMed has two printer queues, Secure-Print-BW (Black & White) and Secure-Print- CLR (Color). By printing to one of these two printer queues, your document is held until you approach any copier and release your document using your badge. Below are the steps for adding and printing to the printer queues, followed by document retrieval using your badge.Add a printer: macOS
Important: Make sure your Mac is connected to the WMed-Secure network.
1. Navigate to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners.
2. Click the icon under the Printers List.
3. The Add dialog is displayed. This dialog displays a list of all the discovered printers on the network. Note: Only Secure-Print-BW and Secure-Print-CLR are maintained by WMed.
4. Select a printer, Secure-Print-BW or Secure-Print-CLR
The Name, Location, and Use is displayed
6. If Secure AirPrint is not displayed:
1. Close the Add dialog.
2. Disconnect from the network.
3. Reconnect to the network.
2. Try again. If you still cannot see Secure AirPrint, contact WMed Support
7. Click Add.
8. Print your document. When prompted enter your WMed username and password.
9. Repeat for any other required printers
Note: If you enter the wrong authentication details, Macs do not show any warning message; your job will just not print. If your job does not
print, check the Print Queue dialog. If the print job is there and has the message Held for authentication, click the icon; then re-enter your login details. If the incorrect password is sent twice, you will be locked out for 15 minutes. You can unlock your account at https://sspr.med.wmich.edu.
Add a printer: Windows
Important: Make sure your PC is connected to the WMed-Secure network.
1. Ctrl + Click here to download Papercut. This application is required to install WMed printers.
2. Navigate to your downloads folder and double click to open the downloaded papercut installer.
3. If prompted, allow the installer to make changes to your device.
4. Select your preferred language then click OK.
5. Accept the agreement and click next.
6. Select printers Secure-Print-BW or Secure-Print-CLR, then click next.
7. Enter your WMed username and password and click next.
8. Click finish.
Add a printer: iOS
Important: Make sure your iPhone or iPad is connected to the WMed-Secure network.
1. Open the app you want to print from.
2. To find the print option, tap app’s share icon, or , or tap . If you can’t find the print option, check the app’s User Guide or Help section. Not all apps support AirPrint.
3. Tap or Print.
4. Tap Select Printer and choose Secure-Print-BW or Secure-Print-CLR.
5. Choose the number of copies or other options, like which pages you want to print.
6. Tap Print in the upper-right corner.
You will be prompted to enter your WMed username and password.
Add a printer: Android
Important: Make sure your Android device is connected to your WMed-Secure network.
1. Install the Mobility Print app from the Google Play Store.
2. Launch the app.
3. Tap Android settings.
4. Tap Mobility Print.
5. Tap the enable toggle.
6. Exit out of Settings.
7. Open the app you want to print from. To find the print option, tap Share or.
8. If you can’t find the print option, check the app’s User Guide or Help section.
9. Select a printer, Secure-Print-BW or Secure-Print-CLR.
10. Print your document. When prompted enter your WMed username and password.
Note: If you select the Remember me checkbox, your phone will remember your login details for that printer for one week.
Document Retrieval
1. Tap WMed badge on badge reader of copier.
The badge reader is behind a small black compartment near the copier screen, indicated by a red light. On a successful badge reading, the light will turn green.
Note: Alternatively if you do not have your badge. You can login with the on-screen keyboard using your WMed username and password.
