Eduroam Roaming WiFi Service
Summary
Instructions on how to connect to the eduroam WiFi serviceEduroam is an international roaming service for users in research, higher education and further education. It provides researchers, teachers and students easy and secure network access when visiting an institution other than their own.
People from other eduroam compatible educational institutions are able to log into WMed's eduroam environment using their home school's login criteria. Conversely WMed faculty, staff, and students are able to log into the wireless eduroam networks at other schools using their WMed user ID and password.
By joining the eduroam service as a user you shall be deemed to accept these conditions of use:
- When using the eduroam service, you shall always comply with local laws that regulate the use of the service.
- You shall not use the eduroam service for any unlawful purpose and not (attempt to) breach or circumvent any administrative or security controls.
- You shall respect intellectual property and confidentiality agreements.
- You shall protect your access credentials (e.g. private keys or passwords).
- Use of the eduroam service is at your own risk. There is no guarantee that the service will be available at any time or that it will suit any purpose.
- Logged information is used for administrative, operational, accounting, monitoring and security purposes only. The logged information may be disclosed under lawful order to law enforcement or other entities.
- The access-granting bodies and Resource Providers are entitled to regulate, suspend or terminate your access, within their domain of authority, and you shall immediately comply with their instructions.
- You are liable for the consequences of you violating any of these conditions of use.

Setting up eduroam - Computers
- It is recommended that you set up your eduroam connection while at WMed, before traveling to another participating institution.
- Issues with eduroam should always be reported to WMed Support, not the helpdesk of an institution you are visiting.
MacOS
- Open the wifi connections menu and select the eduroam network SSID.
- Enter your username@your-institution and your password. For WMed users that would be username@wmed.edu, e.g. fmlast@wmed.edu. (NOTE: This is not an email address, and your first.last@wmed.edu address will not work.)
- Click Continue to verify the certificate.
- Enter your Mac computer's username and password. (This is required to install the eduroam security certificate). If your Mac does not connect after this step, please open a Support ticket for assistance.
Windows
- Open the wifi connections menu and select the eduroam network.
- Enter your username@your-institution and your password. For WMed users that would be username@wmed.edu, e.g. fmlast@wmed.edu. (NOTE: This is not an email address, and your first.last@wmed.edu address will not work.)
- Click Connect to accept the network certificate and connect.
Setting up eduroam - Mobile Devices
- It is recommended that you set up your eduroam connection while at WMed, before traveling to another participating institution.
- Issues with eduroam should always be reported to WMed Support, not the helpdesk of an institution you are visiting.
iOS (7 or later)
- Open Settings and access the WiFi section. Tap the eduroam network.
- Enter your username@your-institution and your password. For WMed users that would be username@wmed.edu, e.g. fmlast@wmed.edu. (NOTE: This is not an email address, and your first.last@wmed.edu address will not work.)
- Leave the Mode on Automatic and tap Join.
- Tap Trust on the Certificate window to accept the network certificate and connect.
Android
***There is currently an issue with setting up eduroam on some Android devices. Please review the attached document titled 'Manual Certificate Installation for Android' before following the instructions below.***
- Open Settings and access the WiFi section. Tap the eduroam network.
- Under the EAP method drop-down menu, ensure PEAP is selected.
- Under the Phase 2 authentication drop-down menu, ensure MSCHAPV2 is selected.
- Under the CA certificate drop-down menu, choose (unspecified) (for Android 6 "Marshmallow" and older), or Do not validate (for Android 7 "Nougat" and newer), or Use System Certificate ( for Android 13 "Tiramisu" and newer).
- If Use System Certificate is selected then under Online Certificate Status choose "Do Not Verify".
- If asked for a domain, enter wmed.edu.
- Under Identity, enter your username@your-institution. For WMed users that would be username@wmed.edu, e.g. fmlast@wmed.edu. (NOTE: This is not an email address, and your first.last@wmed.edu address will not work.)
- Leave Anonymous Identity blank. If there is anything in this field remove it.
- Enter your WMed password and tap Connect.
